Hello!
My name is Nathanna Érica and the very first thing you should know about me is that I am COMPLETELY in love with the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, especially The Hobbit, The Lord of The Rings, The Silmarillion and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (I could go on and on forever, but I think it's better if I stop here!). I believe this all began in 1999, when I started reading The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. I was only 9 years old but I already knew that this fantastic history would accompany me for the rest of my life. Then, in July 2013, I had the idea of building something related to Middle-Earth.
In the beginning, I had thought of making a simple lamp in the shape of Bag End's front door or maybe a lamp with a shade resembling the constructions of Rivendell. While searching the Internet, however, I came across the beautiful dollhouse built by the insanely talented Maddie Chambers, and that's when I decided to build my own Bag End. With the invaluable help of my super mum, it took me a year and a half to finish it (yes, it was indeed an unexpected journey haha!).
The rooms, the furniture and the decoration were based on the book description, on the movies and also on my own idea of how this lovely "hole in the ground" would be. I tried to take as many pictures as I could to provide you guys with a good notion of the house interior design and the arrangement of the rooms. I really wish I could have figured a way to make the rounded walls and build ALL the rooms mentioned in The Hobbit: "bedrooms, bathrooms, cellars, pantries (lots of these), wardrobes (he had whole rooms devoted to clothes), kitchens, dining-rooms, all were on the same floor, and indeed on the same passage. The best rooms were all on the left-hand side (going in), for these were the only ones to have windows, deep-set round windows looking over his garden, and meadows beyond, sloping down to the river". Anyway, I hope you like the version I was able to create :)
There is a bit of Treebeard's arm showing up on the right corner of the picture haha!

Here you can see the replica of Bilbo's calendar on the wall and, at the back, you can also see the roots of the oak tree atop the Hill. I made the roots out of a small tree trunk from my garden.

For the two columns on each side of the door I used some roof pieces from the Snow White's House collection, by Planeta DeAgostini. The little owls are a really nice touch!

Banheiro de Bag End
Bag End Bathroom
I particularly love this picture. You can take a glimpse of Hobbiton through the bathroom window! A little trick of mine :)

Here you can see Bilbo's journal, that would eventually be known as the Red Book of Westmarch, where he wrote his adventures: There and Back Again.

The parlour window really opens and closes. I made it using the amazing concept art of John Howe as a reference.

Obrigada mammy!
This lovely fireplace was made by my mum. I looked everywhere for a fireplace similar to the one in the movie but none of them were round enough. Thanks mum!

The quality of the picture above is not so good but I ended up putting it anyway just for you to see the kitchen in the movie and in the replica I made :)

The kitchen fireplace was completely different! I added the little white bricks on the top and stones inside and around the outside. I had a miniature cast iron stove but it was too large so my mum cut it and made it fit inside the fireplace.

Ah, a bomba é maravilhosa!
The sink took me a really long time to do! I wanted it to be just like the one in the movie so I carved a hole in a very thick piece of wood, sculpted it, painted it and installed the pump. Oh, the pump is marvelous! It's from the Snow White collection I mentioned earlier and it has a face on it!

I really like the Longbottom Leaf pipe weed barrel in this picture. I printed the label on a special paper and gave it an aged look!
